Walmart Beauty Kits: A Long Winded Review. a.k.a. “I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by.” ― Douglas Adams, The Salmon of Doubt

Alright kids, this is going to be a doozy, you uh, you might want to grab your coffee for this one. I'm sure I've stated on more than one occasion how much I hate stepping into Walmart. I just don't have the patience anymore for the lines, the crowds, the people asking me how pregnant I am and me being forced to explain I'm not pregnant, it's just baby weight. They don't need to know the baby is 9 months old. And then after such exchanges I just end up wasting a shit load more on apple cider and chocolate or frozen pizza bites as comfort food. Not worth it.

Last weekend though, the planets aligned and suddenly it was worth it. I was skulking through My Subscription Addiction one day and I stumbled across a post announcing Walmart would have beauty boxes. "Oh ha ha, that's great, are these the usually $5 boxes that are mostly foil packets and forgettable?" "No bitch, but that was cute. Remember that money you were promising yourself you wouldn't spend? Mine now. Let's roll." ...And so it goes. There were numerous other kits, these just happen to be the two that caught my attention.

Free L'Oreal Hydra Genius Sample + Quickie Review

L'Oreal is giving away free samples of their Hydra Genius face Serum. You can pick up your sample here. It's not an affiliate link and redirects you to the L'Oreal site where you can register for a free card sample. Or you could just skip the Sampables step and go directly to the L'Oreal website. It takes about 2-3 weeks to ship and again, it's a card sample so it's single use.

Verdict: I absolutely loved it. It feels slimy but is so lightweight and absorbs so well. The card sample is large enough for two samples but I overapplied and slathered it on for one use at night and when I woke up my face was extremely moisturizer but not coated feeling in the slightest, a common complaint I have with heavy moisturizers. I haven't seen a noticeable difference between this and the Revitalift line other than packaging but I'm sold. I already purchased the Revitalift revitalizing serum online so I'm just awaiting delivery. That purchase was based on a card sample I received in the January Target Beauty Box.

tl;dr: Grab a sample. It's free. It's worth it. I loved it.

January Target Beauty Box Review

I ended up spending $10 and grabbing January's Target Beauty Box about two weeks ago (currently discounted at $7) and I'm finally getting around to hitting all of the products inside. First off: this thing is loaded and heavy as shit. It didn't waste my time trying to be cute, which I appreciated. The only effort it put into aesthetics was blue tissue paper, which may have allowed for it to be pretty loaded with products-no money wasted on bullshit and very effectively trying to serve as a billboard for products that are housed in store. Very quick and to the pointless, if you will.

I didn't lie, pretty basic, non?
